The long-anticipated Star Wars: The Old Republic expansion, Legacy of the Sith has finally been revealed. Along with new storyline content, it also launches a wave of unwanted changes to the game’s economy and gear progression systems.

The “swtor 7.0 gearing” is a change that has been announced by BioWare. The changes are not welcome and will have an impact on the game’s economy.

SWTOR drops new Legacy of the Sith trailer, outlines unwelcome gearing changes

Something less than inspiring.

With just a few weeks before the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic’s next addition, Legacy of the Sith, the devs seem to be waging a campaign to make players angry before the expansion’s February 15th release. Players have expressed their dissatisfaction with a large thread detailing the intentions for how gearing will operate in 7.0 and beyond, citing a number of pain issues that are now absent from the game.

The main issues are reduced rewards for solo players (forcing players who primarily play more casual or solo content into higher difficulties for gear, which is currently not the case), fixed-stat gear (which renders moddable gear useless, which includes the vast majority of cash shop outfits), and the systems’ overall complexity. You can read the whole post on gearing and the answers to get a sense of player attitudes, but user Pietrastor on the first page appears to sum up the prevailing vibe: “So yes, I think due to listening to 5% of the criticism, the most essential 95% stays neglected.” Ouch.

In further upbeat SWTOR news, BioWare has now released a new Legacy of the Sith trailer.

“Today, BioWare and Lucasfilm Games released a new teaser for Star Wars: The Old Republic, which sheds additional information on the epic Star Wars saga that will unfold in the forthcoming Legacy of the Sith expansion.” Players will be able to continue their own Star Wars adventure, unraveling the secrets of the final goal of the rogue Sith, Darth Malgus, who has been a threat to the galaxy since his initial appearance in the legendary MMORPG ten years ago. Star Wars: The Old Republic – Legacy of the Sith will be released on February 15, continuing the renowned MMORPG’s year-long 10th Anniversary Celebration, which will give players with a variety of new content, updates, and in-game events into 2022. The highly anticipated Combat Styles feature will add an all-new level of customization for a character’s weapons and abilities, giving players even more options to create the Star Wars character of their dreams.” “In addition to the expansive next chapter in the thrilling storyline of Star Wars: The Old Republic, the highly anticipated Combat Styles feature will add an all-new level of customization for a character’s weapons and abilities, giving players even more options to create the Star Wars character of their dreams.”

The “legacy of the sith changes” is a change that many players are not happy with. The new update will make it so that gear from previous expansions can no longer be used in end game content.
