Stellaris is a science fiction 4X (eXplore, eXploit, eXterminate and eXploit) strategy game in which players take on the role of a species from a randomly generated galaxy. The Galaxy is divided into solar systems, composed of planets, moons, asteroids and other celestial objects. Each of these solar systems is linked to other systems through a network of wormholes. In each solar system, players colonise planets and moons, mine asteroids, discover new technologies and engage in diplomacy, research or diplomacy.

The latest update for Stellaris, Lem 3.1, has been released. The date for when it will hit the Steam store will be announced at a later date.

Stellaris is out today, but does that mean you should be playing it? Probably not. The end of this week marks the end of the beta period, meaning that the game is now officially over for many people. How long ago did it end for you? The game will be free for everyone until June 29, so if you can’t wait until then, now is the time to start.

Stellaris Lem 3.1 Update Release Date - Here's When It Could Launch

Following the release of its expensive Nemesis DLC earlier this year, Stellaris has continued to expand via both paid expansions and free patches, with the Lem 3.1 update delivering the first batch of significant improvements. The community is concerned about the update’s delivery schedule, particularly because the content tempo has slowed in comparison to prior years.

At the same time that Paradox revealed the Custodians project, which divided the development team in two, Stellaris’ Lem 3.1 Update was given a delivery timeline of “sometime after summer.” One team will concentrate on additional material in the future, while another will focus on providing free updates “every three months.”

The Stellaris 3.1 update is named after Polish science fiction author Stanislaw Lem, continuing a tradition that dates back to the game’s launch, and “will be a bit more ambitious and larger in scope compared to what you can come to expect from future ‘Custodian’ updates,” according to the developer.

“The reason for this is because we’ve had more time to work on it than is expected in future releases. It’s also worth noting that, for the time being, the Lem update will be a stand-alone free update, not linked to any paid DLC.”

While Paradox has yet to commit to a Stellaris’ Lem 3.1 Update release date, the team was “finishing up the Lem Update so that we can prepare it for release in September,” according to a development diary from August.

With any hope, the Stellaris Lem 3.1 Update will be released in mid-to-late September.

However, since Paradox has already said that the slower speed at which it delivers material is due to the continuing epidemic, it’s not out of the range of possibilities that the update may be delayed.

We’ll keep our eyes peeled for an official announcement and update this story as soon as we get more information.
