The secret society Skull and Bones is accepting applications for private testing of its new mobile app, which will allow members to have a chat with other members. The app does not currently accept non-members, but it’s likely the club intends to eventually open up access to all in order that their digital presence might be more robust than ever before
Shiver, shiver, shiver, shiver, shiver, shiver, s We weren’t expecting Ubisoft’s multiplayer piratical sandbox Skull & Bones to reach this far, but the game is already accepting applications for a private testing program, which will let “carefully chosen gamers to experience an early version of our game in actual situations before anybody else.”
This set of insiders will be part of a “relatively small” group of players who are “committed to testing work in progress versions of our game where you will encounter bugs and problems, assisting in the creation of a better experience for the rest of the community.” Applicants who are ready to put up with a shoddy version of the title and agree to both an NDA and a code of conduct are encouraged to apply.
It’s an understatement to say that Skull & Bones has been a long time coming: The game was first announced at E3 2017 and has been stuck in development hell ever since, with four delays as Ubisoft Singapore promised a “new vision” for the game and a general reboot. That’s not to mention Ubisoft’s own sexual harassment scandals, which included the Singapore studio and resulted in the associate director leaving the company.
Skull and Bones is currently aiming for a 2023 release date, but given the game’s history and how insider testing goes, we’ll call that a tenuous release window at best.
We are kicking off our Insider Program, a unique opportunity for a selected few to test early versions of Skull and Bones & share feedback. Apply now if you think you have what it takes!
