One week ago, Old School player feedback on the Theatre of Blood event was reviewed, with the consensus being that the update was too strong, and that it could lead to players being killed out of their depth in the new content. In response, a patch was deployed on Tuesday, which removed some of the content, and tweaked some of the mechanics. Players will now have to get back into the swing of things, and learn how to complete the new quests, while the Theatre of Blood elite quest has been removed.

Old School RuneScape is receiving a pretty substantial update today, a week before the long-awaited Theatre of Blood expansion hits. It’s a rather small update, but it’s important in that it addresses a rather significant issue. Theatre of Blood is a big change for Old School, but it’s also been a bit buggy, especially when it comes to lag. Old School’s updates are generally praised for being the best way to keep the game up-to-date without forcing you to play through an entire expansion.

As you may have heard, a few weeks ago, the Theatre of Blood quest was changed into a miniquest. The Theatre of Blood quest, which was first released in December 2013, was the first major content update of 2013. Today, we’re pleased to announce the first mobile update to Old School RuneScape in 2014, titled The Theatre of Blood. New players will be able to enjoy this miniquest on the Android platform from 7th January 2014. For those of you who already completed the Theatre of Blood quest, you’ll be able to access the miniquest on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch from 24th January 2014.

word-image-3498 A new week begins, which means a new stream of updates will be released in RuneScape and Old School RuneScape. We start with OSRS, which released two new modes for Blood Theatre last Thursday. Since then, a number of changes have been made to the game, including a refinement of the difficulty and several patches, and more changes are planned in response to various player feedback. Otherwise, OSRS continues to build excitement for its upcoming major quest series A Kingdom Divided with World Map Update. As for RuneScape, the big news in the game’s weekly newsletter was the official release date of RuneScape Mobile on Thursday the 17th. June. Interested players are still encouraged to pre-register on their preferred platform as the community approaches the fourth round of rewards. Jagex is also holding a contest to win an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. By the way, we had an interview with Jagex about RuneScape Mobile, which you can read here. The rest of the RuneScape newsletter continues to focus on the battle for Monolith. It includes an overview of the story, information about players’ willingness to upgrade certain skills, the opening of a brand new marketplace, and, of course, the weekly patch notes. View
