To wrap up this year’s “MMO Week in Review” I wanted to talk about two new MMORPGs that were released this week. The first is Outlands Online, which is a classic-style massively multiplayer game (MMO) that’s been running since 2005. Its latest iteration is currently in beta and available only to the Outlands Online community, but the full version of the game will be available soon—and since it’s free to play, it’s totally worth checking out. The second is Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, which is an FPS and a sequel to the popular Mirror’s Edge.

MMO Week in Review is a weekly blog post to give you a glimpse of the MMO/RPG realm and discuss a few of the new and upcoming games that we have played. We will look at the pros, cons, and overall thoughts of the games we play.

I joked on Twitter that we don’t release a Kickstarter-launched MMORPG every week, but also not every week we’ve launched not one but two great MMORPGs, and that’s where we are with the launch of Crowfall and Swords of Legends Online – the former has been hotly anticipated since its crowdfunding in 2015, while the latter only appeared on the radars of western gamers this spring. While no one knows where these two games will end up in the genre hierarchy, we’re just excited for the new blood.

Today, as every Sunday (since 2010!), read Massively Overpowered’s weekly rundown of the week’s best MMO news and opinions! .
